Coaching and Lessons

Let me - Ellen Berchner-Nolan - take you on a journey of growth, learning, and success.

Offering Coaching and Lessons in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire Area

How much will in person lessons cost?

One-to-one is £50 for up to an hour. Shared lessons £30 each, groups £25 each. Depending on the location, venue hire or travel costs might be added. Spectators are very welcome at no extra charge.

Payment is via cash on the day or bank transfer. If using bank transfer, this must be done before, or during the lesson, and please reference with your name along with the date of the lesson.

Online lessons:

£45 for up to an hour

What you need:

Either a Pivo or someone to film you and a phone with a headset to talk to me.

Webinars:

I regularly offer webinars covering numerous topics like riding theory, how to read horses and understanding how their brains work or just practical exercises and advice for your daily work.

Mindset:

I'm a Centre 10 Advanced Coach for applied psychology and can help you with your mindset when it comes to riding. Whether you've lost your confidence or just your mojo, I can help. These sessions work best on Zoom but in person is possible too. They're £50 per session but drop down to £45 if you book 3.

Polework clinics, tiny jump clinics and biomechanics sessions using Franklin Balls and elastic bands are also available. Contact me about your requirements.

What to expect in a coaching session?

In a coaching session, there will be opportunity for discussion, and I encourage you to say what you think and to ask questions.

My visit is for an hour and you may use this time as you wish. There is no expectation that the whole hour will be used for riding; all training is tailored to you and your horse’s current fitness level, and you can request any combination of groundwork, discussion, and riding that suits.

Within reason, I am available for any questions or support you need between my lesson visits, and I welcome short pieces of video for review between visits.

And finally, expect to have very enjoyable lesson!

Lesson Booking Terms

Before our first lesson
I will email you a New Rider Registration Form which needs to be completed before the first lesson to enable me to act appropriately in the event of an accident and to comply with the terms of my insurance. The information you provide will always remain confidential.

On the Day
Please be tacked up and ready to start at your lesson time.

Lessons go ahead in all weathers except those that present a safety risk, e.g., snow, frozen ground, strong winds, thunderstorms, heavy rain, and extreme heat. If the weather is a problem, we will make a joint decision 60-30 minutes before the start of the lesson as to whether to go ahead. If cancellation is mutually agreed, there is no charge.

Unfortunately, I cannot cancel lessons based on what the weather forecast says the day before, as it can often change within a few hours.

Cancellation Policy
I understand that there can be unforeseen circumstances with horses (and life!), and therefore in the case of illness and lameness, or other unforeseen events, please contact me to discuss. If you are unwell, please also contact me.

It is your responsibility to check to the best of your knowledge, that your horse is sound before the start of your lesson. Lessons will not go ahead on horses that are unsound or distressed.

If you need to postpone a lesson, I require a minimum of 48 hours' notice, so that I have time to organise a replacement booking. Postponements and cancellations within 48 hours of the lesson will incur the full lesson fee.

Please only make a booking if you are happy to accept and honour the 48-hour cancellation
policy. To provide a flexible mobile service, considerable time is invested in planning and arranging a route for each day, and I would be grateful if you would bear this in mind when booking.

It can often take me several days to organise everyone’s times for the day, however, please
feel free to contact me by text message (not WhatsApp) if you have not heard from me.

Insurance
I am fully insured through the British Horse Society and remain up-to-date with equine-specific first aid, child protection legislation, and BHS Continued Professional Development.
I am also fully CRB checked for working with children.
